Fundraising success at our first ever Summer Fete!

We're delighted to share that our first ever summer fete, organised by the Highfield Parent Association (HFPA), has raised just over £1,500.

The money raised will go towards a new indoor sensory swing.

Some 250 people attended the event in glorious sunshine on Sunday 14th June. There were 25 local stallholders at the fete, six games stalls, a raffle, as well as seven food trucks serving refreshments.

Highfield Ely was very pleased to welcome Radio Fenland on the day, with the station broadcasting live from the fete.

Organisers from the HFPA had planned the event carefully to meet the needs of students and their families.

Sensory tents provided a welcome area for relaxation and calm, while a quieter period of time during the event was helpful for families who may find large, busy events difficult to access.

Staff at Highfield Ely were thrilled with the success of the event which brought the wider community into the school, while providing a safe and accessible space for children and young people with additional needs.

“I was incredibly proud to be part of this event and to see so many people come together to support our school community. The day was a great success, and a real reflection of what Highfield Ely is all about - our students, families, staff and local community working together to create opportunities for young people with additional needs.

We want our students to have the same chances to take part, try new things and build confidence as any other child, and events like this help make that possible.

Thank you to everyone in the community who attended the fete, volunteered or donated and to Radio Fenland for coming along. Finally, a special thanks to our fantastic Highfield Parent Association without whom none of this would have been possible.”
